The Virtual Raising Equity course is a 4-module program specifically designed to provide builders and developers with the business models required to raise equity from investors for Multiplex and Small-Scale Multi-Unit Housing (SSMUH) projects in Metro Vancouver.
This program is led by Bill Laidler, President of Laidler Capital, and focuses on practical, real-world application. You will learn how to implement proven General Partnership and Limited Partnership structures that attract investors while providing you with consistent cash flow from development fees. The course is designed to show you how to reduce your own equity requirements by partnering effectively with homeowners and presenting opportunities in a compliant, compelling way.
Module 1: The Structure to Raise Equity for Your Projects Build the legal and financial foundation for your developments. You will review recent Housing Policy Changes and the Development Proforma to understand how to structure deals that appeal to sophisticated capital.
Module 2: How to Present Opportunities to Investors Master the art of the pitch. This module covers acquisition strategies and how to package a project so that investors clearly see the value and the path to profit.
Module 3: Mitigating Risk for Multiplex Townhome Developments Learn the critical guardrails for your business. This includes navigating Securities Commission Regulations and conducting deep-dive case studies to identify and avoid common development pitfalls.
Module 4: Executing the Partnership Finalize your approach to investor relations. You will gain insights into managing these relationships and maintaining clear communication from the initial investment through to project completion.
The Raising Equity Intensive is a two-day workshop designed to give builders, developers, and real estate professionals the tools to raise capital, structure deals, and scale their development business.
It’s built on the same systems and frameworks used by the Laidler Capital team to deploy over $40 million annually into real projects across Metro Vancouver. You’ll learn directly from active practitioners, not career presenters, and walk away with strategies you can implement immediately to attract investors, package deals, and lead profitable projects.
Our sessions include live instruction, real case studies, group work, and direct access to experts in acquisitions, investor relations, legal structuring, marketing, and development finance.
Day 1
Builds the foundational systems to grow sustainably. Topics include Securities Commission Regulations, Acquisition Strategy, Risk Mitigation. There will also be a short review on the Recent Housing Policy Changes, the Development Proforma, Legal Agreements and Case Studies.
Day 2
You will learn how to raise capital, manage cash flow, and work with investors and homeowners to accelerate growth. You will also get an opportunity to present your pitch deck in front of your peers and the Laidler Capital Team.
